Comparative study on durability of different composite modified asphalt mixtures
The durability of asphalt mixture is one of the main indicators of the mechanical performance of asphalt pavement. Three kinds of composite modified asphalts (4%SBS/3%SBR, 4%SBS/15% rubber powder and 4%SBR/15% rubber powder) were chosen as binders. Three kinds of aggregate gradation (AC-13, AC-16, AC-20) were used to design composite modified asphalt mixture. The durability (ageing, accumulation and fatigue) of composite modified asphalt mixture was compared and analysed. The study includes comparative study on mechanical performance of composite modified asphalt with different ageing time (0, 5 and 20 h), comparative study on plastic deformation accumulation of composite modified asphalt mixture with different loading times and comparative study on fatigue characteristics of different composite modified asphalt mixtures based on strain. The findings have some theoretical and practical values for increasing the durability of asphalt pavement.
