Binzhou Perpetual Pavement Test Road
Expressway construction has been carried out on a large-scale in China. Vigorous economical development has caused rapid growth in traffic volume and truck axle loads creating a severe challenge for the pavement structure design. Therefore, the high-performance and low- maintenance cost of a long-life perpetual pavement structure is gaining attention. This paper discusses the first perpetual asphalt pavement test road in China including pavement design, data acquisition and response analysis. Dynamic stress and strain is measured and the change in response to axle load and speed at different pavement temperature is discussed. The response of different pavement sections is compared and a prediction model of pavement stress and strain is constructed.
