Five-slab thick-plate model for concrete pavement
A five-slab thick-plate model is developed to investigate the structural response of concrete pavements under vertical loads. The Reissner's thick-plate theory and the Winkler foundation model are employed in the derivation. Load transfer across joints between slabs is considered in the analysis. The solutions of the five-slab system are arrived at by superposing the solutions of three types of elemental plates. Numerical examples are presented to verify the results of the proposed model with those obtained by the finite element method.
