This report from the Norwegian Building Research Institute on tests which spanned up to ten years shows how the heat insulation properties of foamed polyurethane decline with age (increase in the λ-value). Untreated (unprotected) specimens showed an increase in lambda value of 28 per cent after ten years; for materials protected with aluminium and metal-taped edges the increase was less than 5 per cent. One sample, namely PUR-foam covered completely with pvc using contact adhesive, revealed a higher increase in lambda value than the unprotected foam.
