Air pollution in developing and developed nations: A pooled cross-sectional time series regression analysis
The purpose of this paper is to test a few explanations of environmental pollution. In particular the focus is on carbon dioxide emissions as an indicator of environmental pollution. A number of explanations such as the Malthusian are presented. Data are collected on carbon dioxide emissions and a number of social and economic determinants from the World Resource Institute Data Base. Using pooled cross-sectional time series regression analysis, models of pollution for developing and developed nations are tested separately. Results of the analysis suggest that the processes of pollution are dissimilar across developing and developed nations. Policy implications of the findings are also presented.
