Clear Sky Luminance Patterns: Analysis, Comparison and Modelling
In tropical, subtropical and temperate maritime climate regions the clear and quasi-clear skies are often the most frequent and relevant sources of daylight, therefore the measurement, analysis, and comparison of their luminance patterns as well as additional simultaneous daylight conditions is of considerable interest. From three sets of regular scanning measurements in Berkeley, Tokyo, and Sydney homogeneous clear sky distributions were selected to analyse their scattering indicatrices and gradations with the aim of comparing these to CIE standards as well as to check the influences of turbidity and sun position. The paper demonstrates the reliability of the CIE standard sky models and other relatively simple but practical design skies.
