Approaches to Knowledge-Based Architectural Detailing
There are strong practical and commercial reasons for imbedding increasing amounts of knowledge in computer-aided design and documentation systems. This paper describes some approaches to the use of knowledge systems in architectural detailing. It discusses the roles of design critics and design generators, the notion of design grammars, and the maintenance of many different descriptions of an architectural detail.
