A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Computer-integrated construction process
In Finland, the basic principles of a building product model, the RATAS model, have been defined. Bo-Christer Bjork, head of a research group at the Technical Design Centre of Finland, VTT, describes the building of the model with a five-level abstraction hierarchy, starting with the building object. A number of prototypes are being developed based on the RATAS model and these are being developed using different types of application software, but all prototypes utilize the same conceptual information structure.
