Modélisation des écoulements granulaires par automates cellulaires
A discrete numerical method based on a cellular automaton may be considered for granular material modelling. First, this paper presents the basics of such a tool: space discretisation in a regular lattice, discrete time-evolution of the system by successive transitions. Then, the various kinematical or dynamical modelling performed for granular materials are described. The description of authors' models is more especially developed. Purely kinematical models are able to reproduce silo flow patterns or particle size segregation. The introduction of force transmission allows the model to take into account the influence of the initial stress state and of the wall roughness in silo flow modelling.
