The Nile Inside the Sudan—Increasing Demands and Their Consequences
Water budgets of the Nile and its major tributaries have been reviewed and compared with changes in the rate of water abstraction for irrigation purposes in the period starting from the Sudan' independence in 1956 to the medium range future. The influence of these changes on the rights of the down stream water users, together with possible environmental consequences, has been briefly assessed and corrective actions suggested.
