Behavior of repaired projectile bullet damaged reinforced concrete beams using CFRP sheet in conjunction with natural aggregate or recycled aggregate concrete layer
In this study, the bullet projectile performance of repaired projectile bullet damaged recycled aggregate (RA) or natural aggregate (NA) RC beams using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets in conjunction with RA or NA concrete was experimentally investigated. The experiment consists of a total of six subjected to projectile bullet loading. The effect of the type of material used in combination with the CFRP sheet was studied. According to the test findings, utilizing the CFRP sheet demonstrated a much higher load capacity than the control beams, but a decreased level of ductility. Therefore, CFRP sheet is a viable repair technique of projectile bullet damaged RA or NA RC beams. Besides, the results show that the repaired damaged RC beams with CFRP combined with the NA layer had a higher load compared to the repaired damaged RC beams with CFRP combined with the RA layer. However, CFRP in combined with RA shows a good enhancement in load capacity (115.6–117.8%). The repaired beams with CFRP and NA layer showed debonding failure while using RA with CFRP showed debonding with cover separation in repairing RA beam.
