Construction management in Algeria
Boussabaine Abdelhalim and Roy Duff of the Department of Building Engineering, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UMIST, found in Algeria that there was little knowledge of project management techniques which are taken for granted in the developed world. It was also found that the social, cultural and political aspects of the construction environment, which resulted in a very high centralization of decision taking, created a considerable barrier to efficient project organization. The introduction of such techniques will have to be accompanied by extensive training.
