Selection of best location for small hydro power project using AHP, WPM and TOPSIS methods
The objective of this paper is to find out the best location of the small hydro power project out of four feasible locations on Ranoli Branch canal. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is used to check the consistency of the decision criteria matrix. Weighted product method (WPM) and TOPSIS methods are applied for the optimization of selection of small hydro power project location. Four locations are identified for the small hydro power project on Ranoli branch canal (Gujarat, India). To solve this problem, Rated power, distance of power house from road, project cost, distance of power house from grid line, and distance of power house from village has been considered as criteria, and four fall locations on Ranoli branch canal as alternatives. The project cost has been calculated by designing hydro power components using Indian Standards Guidelines. Actual current market rates are applied to find cost of power house components. Distance of power house from grid line, distance of power house near road, distance of power house near village are obtained using goggle play store application namely ‘Map Distance Ruler lite.’ As results of weighted product method (WPM) and TOPSIS method the best location for small hydro power project is obtained.
