This paper deals with the soil-structure interaction analysis of a space frame-raft-soil system, taking into account the elasto-plastic behaviour of the compressible subsoil. The system has been idealised using isoparametric beam bending elements to represent beams and columns, thick shell elements for representing raft as well as slabs, and coupled finite-infinite brick elements for modelling the soil mass. The elasto-plastic analysis has been carried out using the Drücker-Prager yield criterion for the soil. The elastic and elasto-plastic interactive behaviours of the space frame-raft-soil system are compared.
