Cavity expansion in k0 consolidated clay
An elastic-plastic semi-analytical approach is proposed for predicting the cylindrical cavity expansion in -consolidated clay. The approach is based on the assumption of small deformation in the elastic region, the -based Modified Cam clay () model is adopted for the -consolidated clay, the process of cavity expansion is considered in undrained condition and the semi-analytical approach is obtained by using the similarity technique and large deformation theory in the plastic region. The comparison between the cavity wall pressure and excess pore pressure obtained from the proposed approach and the published data is carried out and shows a good agreement.
