Water diversion from the Huang he at Baiper, North China
Three alternative routes have been suggested for the diversion of water from the Huang He (Yellow river) to the area of Beijing and Tianjin. A feasibility study has found that diversion from Baiper is the best choice for several reasons: the river bed is stable there, water is reliably available and has a low silt content, and the total investment cost would be lower than elsewhere.
