Flow structure over bed form with flexible vegetation patches
Understanding the interaction between the flow structure and the dune bed form which is covered by the vegetation patches is crucial for the river engineering due to its impact on the transport of the sediment and the bed stabilities. Therefore, at this study, an attempt was done to investigate experimentally the effects of the flat crest dune and the vegetation patches on the flow velocity and Reynolds stress distributions. Results confirm the presence of the flow separation downstream the crest, which is triggered by the vegetation patch. Furthermore, the results show the sweep and ejection events occur frequently over the whole channel and they made a greater contribution to carry the momentum flux in the entire flow.
