Automaticlaser-guided slipforming
Illustrated by the construction of a large cooling tower, this article describes a system developed from research in the German Democratic Republic by which the height and alignment of slipforming are controlled. The system is automatic, is operated from the slipform, and involves a central unit with a laser, beam-deflection units, measuring rods and a measuring band that together create a series of tangents. Once the system is set up, control personnel can leave the construction danger zone.
