Bulb Turbine Development for Hydro Power Stations
SYNOPSIS—Bulb turbines are gaining increasing importance in the generation of power from low-head schemes all over the world. Because of hydraulic advantages on the one hand and increased feasibility on the other hand they are frequently applied instead of the vertical Kaplan turbines.
The following paper deals with the most essential hydraulic differences between a horizontal bulb-turbine and a vertical Kaplan-turbine as well as with the design features of a bulb-turbine.
