Slim precast stone blocks for masonry
The relative absence of code guidance on stone masonry walk prompted the Central Building Research Institute at Roorkee, India, to devise a method of using stone spalls in precast blocks 100-200 mm thick for a new wall construction system. Now being widely used in projects throughout India, the system is a labour-oriented precast process requiring little capital investment, very attractive to developing countries. Tests and application results are discussed in this paper.
