Multilayered shell elements have proven to be highly efficient for non-linear analysis of structures. In the past, these finite elements were used with specific constitutive laws dedicated to concrete and steel. This paper is devoted to an extension of multilayered shell element to constitutive laws with internal variables (plasticity, visco-elasto-plasticity, damage). A special attention is given to the plane stress condition in both the local integration scheme of stresses and the calculation of the tangent constitutive tensor. These developments are implemented in the finite element code CESAR-LCPC. Some results of non-linear analysis of shell structures, particularly reinforced concrete, under static and dynamic loadings are presented.
