Méthode d'évaluation de l'effet des additions minérales sur le besoin en eau et l'adjuvantation des mortiers
By an original experimental methodology, based on the comparison of the behaviour of the mortars with similar granular structure and equal consistency, we have evaluated both the granular effect of the mineral admixtures on the water requirement and the action of the superplasticizer on the granular effect and thus correlate the modification of the water requirement with that of superplasticizer requirement. The results show that the fineness and the quantity of the admixture are the principal factors determining the variation of the water requirement and that of the superplasticizer requirement. The admixtures with micronic particles allow, with low content, optimising of the granular packing of the mortars and reducing of the water requirement and the superplasticizer requirement, independently of the quantity and the type of cement employed. The admixtures with submicronic particles generally cause an increase in the water requirement and the superplasticizer requirement except when the cement quantity is low. In 93% of the cases, the modification of the water requirement induced by a given quantity of admixture is proportional to that of the superplasticizer requirement necessary to constrain the variation of the water requirement.
