The co-ordinator of CIB working commission W63 on low-cost housing here reviews Indian experience in the hope of stimulating greater international exchange of ideas on the subject. The three basic methods of earth wall construction are considered, with detailed information on simple methods w devised for waterproofing such structures and for stabilising the soil used in brick and blockmaking. Mr Mathur is director of the Indian National Buildings Organisation and a Vice-President of CIB.
