Continuing our selection of keynote papers from the recent CIB Congress in Edinburgh, this article considers a subject which rarely makes headlines but which is basic to civilised life — water supply and drainage. The coordinator of working commission W62 argues that the objective is to evolve a unified model code for systems based on rational performance criteria, with individual countries applying similar consistent test procedures.
