Modélisation du comportement dynamique du béton par la méthode des éléments discrets
The use of a 3D Discrete Element Method (DEM) is proposed to study concrete structures submitted to dynamic loading. The model has already been validated through quasi-static simulations. This paper aims first at extending the validation of the model through the simulation of SHPB tests at high strain rates, and at contributing to the understanding of the physical mechanisms in stake. Once the correct identification of the model parameters is done, compressive dynamic tests are first simulated. The model proves able to reproduce the concrete strain rate dependency, and confirms the inertia-based hypothesis at high strain rates. Then dynamic tensile tests are simulated, and the results tend to show that the strain rate effect in tension is a material one. A local rate dependence is then introduced in the model, which proves to reproduce accurately the experimental rate sensitivity.
