A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
At certain levels of development, countries with a suitable climate could consider the use of solar energy for household water-heating, provided the units are simple and cheap. A country where development work on these lines is far advanced is South Africa, and here the Head of the Energy in Buildings Division of that country's National Building Research Institute describes the development of an effective unit which employs standard piping and can be used on a high pressure water supply.
