A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Nowadays research institutes need an efficient internal information system which also aids management control. Proceeding from CIB studies, the Hungarian Institute for Building Science, ETI, has tackled the problem with a computer-based system. It essentially employs data sheets with keyword indexing from a special thesaurus of some 2 000 descriptors, which can be presented alphabetically, systematically or graphically. The author, who here gives a deliberately simplified account of the system, is an architect who now works in information and research management at ETI, Budapest.
