This work deals with the development of the invariant surface integral Gθυ for the calculation of the energy release rate in linear viscoelastic mediums. On the basis of a J-integral type, the adaptation to a viscoelastic problem consists in carrying out a partition of the energy dissipated in material and the free energy only with being able to cause the crack propagation. A finite element modeling is proposed by employing an incremental algorithm allowing us a coupling of the hereditary behavior and the Gθυ calculation.
