Theoretical and Numerical Approach for Simulating Spatially Variable Seismic Underground Motions in Layered Saturated Media
The seismic analysis of large-span offshore structures, especially considering soil-structure interaction, requires reasonable spatially variable seismic underground motions in saturated soils as the input. This article theoretically derives transfer functions of saturated soils for incident SV waves to simulate multi-support seismic motions in saturated media. Three critical components for establishing power spectral density matrix to simulate spatially variable seismic motions are subsequently formulated, i.e., underground power spectral densities, response spectrum functions, and coherency functions. Consequently, the multi-support underground motions are generated based on the PSD matrix.
