Determining Design Temperatures for Asphalt Pavements
This paper presents an approach of determining temperature-profiles, which are needed in the analytical design procedure for asphalt pavements. A theoretical model is used to approximate hourly temperature-profiles in the bituminous layer. The consideration of the hourly temperature-profiles in the design procedure improves its final results significantly. Further the paper describes a new method to replace the hourly temperature-profiles by a single design-temperature-profile, which has the same effect on the fatigue-damage.
