Experimental Study on Seismic Behavior of Unreinforced Masonry (URM) Brick Walls Strengthened in the Boundaries with Shotcrete
This study presents the results of in-plane cyclic tests performed on unreinforced brick masonry walls retrofitted using shotcrete. The experimental study was carried out on three full-scale specimens. One specimen was tested as reference and others were strengthened to the boundaries on one and both sides with two different retrofitting strategies. According to the results, strengthening the wall boundaries on one side of the URM wall resulted less satisfactory. On the other hand, the proposed technique in strengthening the wall boundaries on both sides was effective and extremely improved the behavior of strengthened walls.
