A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Field tests in schools built with various classroom planning layouts (single-loaded, split single-loaded, L-type, H type and so on) are reported here by the Head of the Acoustics Laboratory at the Building Research Centre, Dokky, Cairo. It was found that sound propagation in schools depends to a great extent on the grouping of teaching spaces. From this viewpoint an order of preference is given for the various layouts.
