Méthode de Guyon Massonnet Barès appliquée aux ouvrages à poutres d'inertie distincte
A classical method of calculation for the transverse distribution of load action between main girders of a bridge was developed by Guyon, Massonnet and Bares for bridges with identical under-deck girders. It also covers the case of bridges with strengthened side girders. In this article, the method is widened for bridges with girders of different inertia: it is the case of existing railway bridges with strengthened girders below the rails. The practical and common estimate considering the real bridge as a bridge with identical girders, underestimates the effects of actions carried by the girders of stronger inertia and overestimates those on the other girders. The simple calculation described in this article derives a more realistic distribution of efforts between girders from results given by the classical method.
