Regional strike-proneness: a research note

Regional strike-proneness is an aspect of strike data which has received relatively little attention. However, the Department of Employment has now published for the first time an analysis of strike-proneness in Britain at the sub-division level for the period 1968–1973. This note is intended to discuss the methodology used in the production of these statistics, and to apply regression analysis in an attempt to explain sub-divisional strike-proneness differences in terms of economic variables.
