Using local stone for roofing
In certain parts of India roofs built with locally quarried stone slabs have been found to be 20 per cent cheaper than ordinary reinforced concrete. The author, who is a Chief Engineer at the Public Works Department, Rajasthan, describes test work which has shown how to make such roofs more stable and weathertight.
