Dynamic response to dispersion and absorption characteristics of shear waves in a Voigt-type viscoelastic orthotropic functionally graded layer
This article investigates the characteristic of horizontally polarised SH wave propagation in a viscoelastic orthotropic functionally graded medium mediated between a self-reinforced stratum and a heterogeneous viscoelastic half-space. By the help of compatible boundary conditions, a closed-form complex manifestation is produced. The real and imaginary part of this complex expression produces dispersion and damping equation, respectively. The effects of heterogeneities, dissipation factors of viscoelasticity, the thickness ratio of two mediums and reinforcement on the velocity profile of wave have been investigated numerically and demonstrated graphically. The outcomes of this article will provide valuable information about the behaviour of the propagation characteristic in elastic heterogeneous, functionally graded, viscoelastic and orthotropic materials; that can give conjectural supervision for the model and optimisation in the area of earth-tremor engineering.
