A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A 'living-laboratory' for home design
With an ingenious kit of parts, spaces can be quickly changed and floor levels altered to simulate the arrangement of spaces in house design at the architectural department of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, Switzerland. How this facility was applied to a user-participation exercise is described here. The author, an architect, is a senior research assistant in the department at Lausanne. Acknowledgements are made to the Group Y architects for their co-operation and to Claire Charton for research assistance throughout the project.
