Systems approach to management of the Sakarya River Basin
The purpose of the research project “River Basin Management for the Sakarya Basin”, sponsored by NATO under its Science for Stability Programme, is to study a multipurpose and multiunit water resources development plan by using a systems approach. It is attempted to demonstrate the application of modern water resource systems planning techniques that have been well developed in theory to the real planning study of a pilot basin in Turkey. The research project has a special significance from the point of view of economic growth in Turkey, since development of water resources plays an important part in the country's development. It is expected that the project will aid the activities of national planning and the management of the available water resources.
