Comparative Analysis of Urban and Rural Biogas Development in China
Biogas in both urban and rural areas can bring the benefits of energy substitution, environmental improvement, and energy security enhancement. In comparison, because people live far apart from each other and land prices are low in rural areas, it is appropriate to decentralize biogas development in the countryside. Correspondingly, because people live close together and land prices are high in urban areas, it is proper to have centralized biogas development in cities where the collection of raw materials, the production and utilization of biogas and its related products, and the treatment of secondary pollution all depend on adequate facilities and infrastructures.
