Architectural Science Knowledge: Metaphors, Models and Light
The practice of architectural science is familiar with the creation and use of models of environmental behaviour and interaction. What is implicit in these models is a structuring of knowledge which is not just confined to that domain. As a result, the cross disciplinary nature of much of architectural science means that these models can often be applied fruitfully across domains. What rarely occurs, however, is the conscious application of the model at a higher, or meta, level. This paper attempts such a transition using a well known model of day lighting analysis and applying it to technological knowledge acquisition in general.
