The study quantified the influence of the road profile obstacles on 27 different road unevenness indicators (RUI). The influence of obstacle height, length and number of obstacles per kilometre was assessed. The 2997 real longitudinal road-profile records from the Long-Term Pavement Performance program with considering asphalt concrete and cement concrete road surfaces were processed. 5169 obstacles were identified by a median filtering approach and their dimensions were quantified. The regression function based on linear coefficients for dependence of the RUI on three obstacle parameters was derived. The marked dependence of the road indicators on all three obstacle parameters was observed. The road indices describing the short wavelength band proved to be the most sensitive for detecting obstacle presence in a road profile.
