A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
East Meets West: Edmund Anscombe's Combined Factories Building for Aotea Quay, Wellington, New Zealand
This paper examines Edmund Anscombe's 1943 Combined Factory scheme for Aotea Quay, Wellington. The project is strongly influenced by his earlier writing on the subject in 1919 which appears to draw from socialist ideology. The persistence of this earlier writing occurs despite research Anscombe undertakes in America in 1940–1941, and despite changes in the way Anscombe validates the scheme through reference to America and in drawing.
