A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Literature on the subject of home-based business (HBB) is quick to make the point that by operating from home, one is doing the right thing by the environment. The main reason given seems to be that by working from home, there is usually one less vehicle joining the peak hour commuter rush. It is the locational factor which primarily distinguishes a home-based business from other businesses, and the key environmental implication relates to transport energy use. While individual HBBs can adopt their own ‘green design or practices’ this is also true for any other business.
