Yield Displacements of Wall-Frame Concrete Structures and Seismic Design Based on Code Performance Objectives
This study presents a simple procedure for estimating the yield displacement of the capacity curve of wall-frame concrete structures. The proposed formula is based on the approximate method of the continuous medium, and it is suitable for the preliminary stage of a practical design. An early estimate of this displacement, together with the relevant yield drift, may provide the required lateral strength, when the performance objective is defined by the code drift limits. This procedure requires the use Yield Point Spectra (YPS) in a reverse process, and it is demonstrated in common 10-story wall-frame buildings.
