Comparative evaluation of livability indicators of the metropolitan Tehran’s districts
The present research intends to analyze the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of livability in Tehran. The research first explores livability from a theoretical perspective and then evaluates the present situation. Secondary data provided by TOPSIS has been employed to weigh indicators, evaluate the current status of Tehran, and rank its districts. Finally, the districts of the city, as well as their weight, are displayed in a ranking based on livability indicators in GIS. The indicators have been determined in terms of environmental, social, and economic aspects, and the current status of Tehran. In TOPSIS, scores range from one (maximum) to zero (minimum). The results of the analysis show that Tehran is far from the optimal status in terms of livability. The highest score is associated with district 5 (0.51) and the lowest score with district 9 (0.22). This study employs an integrated approach and evaluates all urban districts in Tehran in relation to the indicators of livability.
