Spaces of the Home: Absence, Presence, New Connections and New Anxieties
This is a speculative article that assesses the implications of a number of contemporary social changes for the meaning of the home and the social interactions that take place within it. It addresses the implications of rising rates of women's employment in the labor market, new forms of childcare provision, and changing class relations in the context of theoretical debates in the social sciences that emphasize the significance of new mobile subjects and new technologies of connecting absent others.
