The aim of the project is to understand better the mechanical behaviour of glued-in rods for glued laminated structures submitted to static medium term duration of load with moisture conditions variations. The research project, which will last two years, has just begun. Two main tasks will be realised: the first one is the development of a finite element model to describe mechanical delayed behaviour including mass and heat transport in wood, the second one is the experimentation on structural glued laminated specimens with glued-in rods loaded in four point bending for several weeks. This work will allow to design glued-in rods in a safe and optimised way.
