Dewatering has a history over one hundred years. Before 1980, dewatering system was applied to the system processing mainly in food, chemistry, mineral industry. Since than it was expended to the parts of wastewater treatment process. It was sufficient just to apply the mechanical squeezing force at the sludge layer. But a performance of mechanical dewatering system has been limited when applied to waste-water and recycling. After 1990's, high efficiency dewatering system which electric or thermal force was applied into sludge layer beside of mechanical squeezing press has been developed. High efficiency dewatering (HEDW) system to overcome the technical limit of conventional dewatering (CDW) and are applied into field to secure the economical and environmental merits through producing the low water content dewatered cake.
