A simulation model, WASHMO, is used to illustrate how urbanization influenced flood peaks and volumes for the 1:50 year event in the Palmiet River. The impact of urban stormwater on the channel and the water quality of urban rivers are discussed. Suggestions are made for better urban stormwater control.
