The kinetics and character of the crystallization of glass-ceramic cements
Crystallization in cements from the system PbO-ZnO-B2O3 is of the surface type. The curves of growth rate of the crystalline layer and of individual crystals vs temperature for glass-ceramic cements agree with the crystallization rate curve proposed by Tamman. The rate of crystallization of a cement from the system PbO-ZnO-B2O3 corresponds to the rates of crystallization of readily crystallizing glasses. For STs90-1 cement powder with the grain-size composition in use, all the grains can be permeated right through by crystals after 30 min at 470C.
